REVITALIZATION OF THE RURAL SETTLEMENT GODINJE - LEKOVIĆI

Abstract

Rural settlements of Montenegro own a
significant part of total territory, as such they represent
the most important segment in the preservation and
development of cultural identity, and they also play an
important role in the potential development of the
country. The aim of this study is to use systematic
research, deductive method, analysis of different
approaches, to determine the typology, overall issues of
rural settlements and offer a unique solution in future
development. The topic of this paper is to present and
recognize in one researach all the limitations,
possibilities, possible direction of revitalization and
reconstruction of a typical rural settlement in the
Crmnica region, the settlement of Godinje and to revive it
with modern forms of development.

After the analysis, the comparative advantages of rural
settlements and their regions were presented, so special
attention in their further development should be paid to:
preserving the present quality of the natural enviroment,
improving the quality of the tourist offer, activating and
revitalizing agriculture and activating the mountainous
hinterland for tourism development. It is evident that the
rural areas of Montenegro have the potential to grow into
areas with adequate strategies for sustainable rural
development, which would certainly affect the overall
develpoment of Montenegro.
