The main task of the paper is the presentation and analysis of the internal locus of control in athletes and to what extent the possession of an internal locus of control helps them in certain situations that happen to them throughout their career. In order to gain a deeper understanding of this topic, it is necessary to clearly define the objectives of the research, use adequate data collection methods and analyze the obtained results based on relevant theories and research. Locus of control is a concept that refers to an individual's belief about where the source of control over events and outcomes in their life lies. Internal locus of control, which refers to the belief that an individual has control over his own actions and results, can have a positive impact on motivation, self-confidence, persistence and the ability to face challenges, both in everyday life and in sports. The paper presents the results of research that was conducted by answering questions related to the attitudes and responses of athletes in the surveyed sports clubs and their level of development of the internal locus of control in the sport they practice.
