The paper deals with advanced power electronics converters, which will represent a significant building block of modern power systems. Multiport dc-dc converters enable the simple integration of multiple energy sources, storage systems, and consumers. These converters, implemented with galvanic isolation, also provide other important functionalities (increased safety and reliability). The paper presents a detailed analytical procedure for deriving a general formula for power exchange between any two channels of the converter. This expression is of great importance both for understanding the operation of the converter and for the development of control structures, which manage the power flow in the converter and consequently the power flow in the system to which the converter belongs.
