Abstract

The aim of this study is the analysis and evaluation of safety valves in conditions of overheating, for which they are not designed. Their working temperature range is up to 110  and the system may enter the boiling region. Under these conditions, during expansion to atmospheric pressure, flashing may occur in valve, which lead to decrease of the mass flux. The mass flux is calculated with the available methods, which are described in detail.
