Comparative analysis of load on crankshaft main bearing between In-line and boxer engine

The main crankshaft bearings of the IC engine are one of the most loaded parts of the engine. The forces acting on the crankshaft bearings change very intensely over one engine operating cycle. The aim of this research is to obtain a wear diagram of the main bearing for two different engine configurations, In-line and boxer with the same kinematic parameters, to visually show the effect of the configuration itself on the load of the main bearing. The paper presents the application of graphoanalytic method for determining wear diagrams using AutoCAD Mechanical software.
