Abstract

This paper describes the main characteristics of synchronous machines as well as their role in the conversion of wind power to electrical power. Then, a mathematical model of 9 phase permanent magnet synchronous machine is given. The machine is implemented in Typhoon HIL Control Center Schematic Editor based on this mathematical model. Simulation results for given parameters and no-load condition are presented graphically. At the end of this paper, the vector control concept is shown in the case of this machine, i.e. the control of the stator voltages in order to achieve desired stator currents.
