Asynchronous motors are the most commonly used electrical machines in the industry. With the development od the industry, there was a need for more precise and challenging technical requirements. The aim of this research is to compare two methods of designing asynchronous motors, analytical and finite element method. An eight-pole motor with frame size 500 an a power of 630 kW was used for comparison. KONPRO and ANSYS Maxwell software were used for calculation purposes. At the end of the paper, a comparison of the characteristics obtained by calculations and the test protocol of the mentioned motor is presented.
