This paper describes a smart device capable of harvesting energy from the lines of industrial interfaces. The implementation of a current limiting circuit, which is independent of the intensity of the input voltage, is explained in detail. Various methods for current limiting are presented. Several procedures for measuring the time required to charge a supercapacitor are described. Simulation results of voltages and currents of interest under various conditions, and measurement results when using the device in a real environment, are shown.
