Abstract

Modern agricultural production cannot be imagined without the use of pesticides and with their improper use most of these substances reach the environment. Water pollution from agricultural sources is a common problem in both countries, Serbia and Croatia. The paper identifies and evaluates the sources of glyphosate emission in the leachate of protected water bodies in Serbia and Croatia. The focus is set on glyphosate and its major metabolite, aminomethylphosphonic acid. The aim of the paper is to present the obtained results of SIM analysis of the leachate from Tompojevac Rit and Bačkotopolska valley, Zobnatica reservoir, as well as to propose further scientific considerations for glyphosate and glyphosate salts-based herbicides.
