The paper deals with research of the cultural and sociological framework within which the target group lives, identification of characheristics important for the design process, as well as the importance of design for the utility of furniture. Portability, foldability and simplicity are quickly identified as the main design inputs. The conclusions of this research were used as the basis of the design process that proposes a series of foldable furniture pieces for people on the move and includes a coat rack, chair, shelf, open wardrobe and bed.
