OPTIMIZATION OF THE ORDER PICKING USING SIMULATION

Abstract

The paper provides analysis of the process of order picking following the principle of „goods to person" using the „pick by light“ technology, using simu­lations. Simula­tions were performed in the Tecnomatix simulation soft­ware. Based on mathematical calculations, two simula­tion models were developed in order to compare the effects of single order picking and order picking in zones. Simulation results indicate a significant advantage of zone order picking in defined conditions.
