Abstract

This document presents the basic principles of relay protection. The basic protection functions used in the protection of power transformers were listed and the principle of differential protection was described. The function of differential protection for the used microprocessor relay and corresponding software were explained in detail. By practical work, the most important aspects of differential protection were tested using a test set and analysis of results from the relay and test set were performed.
