INVESTIGATION OF THE INFLUENCE OF THE VEGETATION BELT ON THE WATER QUALITY OF THE PROTECTED AREA OF ZOBNATICA

Abstract

The task of the paper is to analyze and assess the impact of the vegetation belt on the water quality of the protected area of Zobnatica. Different physicochemical parameters in the leachate samples of Lake Zobnatica were analysed (pH, dissolved oxygen, chemical oxygen demand (COD), biological oxygen demand (BOD5), total organic carbon (TOC), nitrites, nitrates, orthophosphates, ammo­nium ion, total nitrogen, total phosphorus, electrical con­ductivity, phenols and metals (nickel, iron, zinc, chromium, copper). The paper presents how the natural balance of the aquatic ecosystem and the water itself is disturbed and polluted. Sustainable and natural solutions are protective green belts to filter through the root composition, as well as to keep the pollutants from scattered sources by the trees themselves and confusion.
