NUMERICAL MODELING IN OPEN CHANNEL FLOW:APPLICATION OF MODIFIED STAGGERED LAX-FRIEDRICHS

– In this thesis, we analyzed open channel water
flow. Fundamental equations were presented, as well as all
the other tools needed for forming the numerical model and
solving this problem. Initial deviation was found and was
later corrected in calibrated numerical model with the help
of other numerical methods. Obtained results were in
accordance with hydraulics of open channel flow. Based
on findings from this paper, we can clearly see advantages,
as well as disadvantages, to the modified Lax-Friedrichs
scheme, and also to Hec-Ras and to the simple iteration
method.
