Abstract

The digital twin is a digital replica of a real, physical system. This hope of Industry 4.0 enables the interaction of real and virtual space, even though the digital twin is an entity in itself. The basic concept of digital twin technology is that the changes experienced by a physical, real object are reflected and transferred to a digital model, and then the obtained insights and feedback enable decisions to be made about the physical object and its further behavior. The evolution of network technologies and sensors enable the connection of physical objects with digital models. The application of digital twins is wide, however, it finds a special place of use in the field of cosmonautics, where the very idea of the concept of digital twin originated.
