Abstract

This paper deals with wind farm power forecasting. After general description of wind power characteristics and conversion into electricity, attention was focused on various power forecasting methods and models. Their importance and role in power system’s operation and planning is explained. Benefits of forecast improvements are assessed in respect to reducing the integration problems, improving the power system and increasing the wind power value on the market.
