APPLICATIONS OF DC LOAD FLOW MODEL IN PLANNING AND OPERATIONS OF POWER SYSTEMS

The aim of this paper is to present direct current (DC) load flow model and some of the most common applications of this model in planning and operations of power systems. First, derivation of DC load flow model is presented, based on classical load flow model. Then, the paper presents applications of this model in the calculation of power transfer distribution factors, power system contingency analysis, load shedding and re-scheduling of generation powers. All the presented applications of DC load flow model are demonstrated on the example of real transmission network and the results are presented and discussed in the paper.
