Abstract

Strategic decision-making implies a long-term decision-making process, which is the starting point for tactical and operational planning. One of the most important decisions at this level of decision-making refers to determining the position of one or more objects, ie. on the configuration of a system. The paper describes the procedure for defining the optimal location for one or more distribution centers, within the delivery chain of a national courier service, based on the use of a well-known location method - gravity model. After determining the optimal position of the centers, the transport costs were calculated on the basis of real distance, with the aim of comparing the obtained variants and the real existing system of functioning.
