RESEARCHING THE EFFECTIVENESS OF WEB APPLICATION DESIGN TRENDS USING EYE AND CURSOR TRACKING
Abstract
This paper examines how different types of navigation affect the behavior of users on the website. Two types of website navigation were analyzed: standard horizontal navigation and hamburger menu navigation. An experiment was conducted using eye-tracking technology, which enabled data collection that provided insight into user behavior when interacting with both types of navigation. Analysis of eye-tracking scanning patterns of website prototype and research of the subjects’ responses collected by survey revealed that, when it comes to websites with simple information architecture, both types of navigation provide satisfactory user experience with certain differences.
