THE USE OF 3D SCANNING IN PROSTHETICS

In this paper is presented the application of 3D scanning technology to the prosthesis of the lower extremities, and geometric reconstruction of the models obtained with the aforementioned technology. The processing of the obtained recordings and the geometric reconstruction of the model were done through the functionality of the GOM Inspect software. Specifically, in this work, the existing socket of the transfemoral (above knee) prosthesis was scanned as well as its residual limb, with the aim of continuing research into the application of additive technology in the construction of the socket, which would significantly speed up and improve the production process.
