Abstract

The aim of the thesis is to analyze the concept of exergy, provide the basics of the concept of exergy and exergy analysis, and show examples of exergy analysis. In the first part of the paper, the basic terms needed to understand exergy are given. Such as: irreversibility, physical and chemical exergy, environment, etc.An example of exergy analysis is given for a steam-turbine and gas-turbine plant. The boiler is the biggest source of exergetic losses, its exergy efficiency is only  = 0.4306. The biggest source of irreversibility or exergy losses in a gas turbine plant is the combustion chamber.The goal of this was to give a good insight into how exergy analysis is performed, as well as to single out the most important conclusions and thereby advance the understanding of the importance of exergy analysis.
