Abstract

This paper analyzes types, characteristics and importance of brise soleil, as architectural element, in order to decrease insolation on facades. Besides that, this paper emphasizes the importance of applying digital design in architecture. The research includes the creation of a brise soleil using parametric design, its application on a chosen facade, a series of simulations and the analysis and comparison of the results. Final results show that the use of brise soleil significantly affects the decreasing of insolation, and that the use of digital design offers the possibility of varying a large number of parameters.
