Abstract

The paper provides an examination of the orthophosphate adsorption efficiency from model solutions using functionalized activated carbon based on lingocellulosic precursor from agricultural organic waste. The experiments were performed in batch laboratory conditions, using activated carbon synthesized from apricot kernels. Adsorption efficiency was determined as a function of the initial mass concentration of orthophosphate, contact time, pH value of orthophosphates model solutions and the dose of adsorbent used. The paper presents the influence of adsorbent functionalization on targeted pollutants adsorption efficiency from wastewater. Enhanced adsorption of orthophosphates has a double value: it improves wastewater treatment and there is the possibility of using saturated adsorbents as the fertilizers.
