This paper examines the application of the Arduino platform with accompanying sensors for air quality monitoring. It develops hardware solutions aligned with geosensor network standards and integrates them with a MATLAB GUI application. The communication process between the MATLAB environment and the Arduino platform is elucidated. The application allows bidirectional communication, data logging, display of measurements in various units, alarms, trends, and virtual sensor implementation. Finally, an analysis of the application is conducted along with recommendations for its enhancement and practical implementation.
