Abstract

This paper focuses on the integration of sustainable development principles in the management of transportation infrastructure projects. Special emphasis is placed on the analysis of high-speed railways Eurostar and Thalys, the mass rapid transit system in Singapore, and the Big Dig megaproject in Boston through the life cycle assessment (LCA) approach. The application of PESTEL analysis allows for the identification of key factors influencing the success or failure of sustainability integration in transportation infrastructure projects.
