MATERIALS INFLUENCE ON IMPROVEMENT OF SQUIRREL-CAGE INDUCTION MACHINES PERFORMANCE
Abstract
This paper presents the finite element method and the possibilities of its application in the analysis of electrical machines. A model of a three-phase squirrel-cage induction motor made using a software tool that implements the finite element method is presented. Static and dynamic characteristics were analyzed, in terms of the influence of the materials used to make the rotor cage. The focus is on comparing the performance of two versions of the machine, in which different materials were used to make the cage winding (copper and aluminum).
