Abstract

This paper aims to develop an applicable methodology for integrating circular economy principles into the construction industry through the use of Building Information Modeling technology and the Material Passport concept. The research systematically contributes to the integration of BIM and Material Passports in supporting circular economy principles in construction. The theoretical contribution encompasses advancing the understanding of BIM and Material Passports integration by systematically investigating and proposing a detailed mapping between data requirements for Material Passports and Industry Foundation Classes 4.x, thereby contributing to a theoretical framework for a seamless digital information flow that supports circular economy principles in construction.
