SIMULATION AND TESTING OF RECLOSER CONTROL UNIT IN REAL-TIME OPERATIONS
Abstract
This paper deals with the simulation and testing of ABB RER615 recloser control unit within the Typhoon HIL simulation environment, integrated with the HIL604 simulator via the Universal HIL Connect device. By applying the Controller Hardware-in-the-Loop (C-HIL) methodology, real control unit testing is enabled without the need for complex laboratory conditions. Short circuits are simulated safely and repeatably, enhancing the verification of protection functions. The simulations covered various fault types and disturbance durations, with analysis of the overcurrent protection response and automatic reclosing logic.
