IoT System for Investigating the Impact of Artificial Lighting on Human Productivity
Abstract
The aim of this thesis is the design and implementation of an IoT system for indoor lighting control that overcomes the limitations of solutions currently used in scientific research. Based on a literature review, the impact of light on human productivity and health is confirmed and shortcomings of existing systems are identified. The system is built on a smart home software platform and extended through the implementation of defined smart logic. The system was designed, implemented and tested against predefined criteria and the results show that it fully meets these criteria and successfully addresses the shortcomings of existing systems. The main limitation of the current solution is scalability: current solution is appropriate for small indoor spaces. It requires scaling to be applicable in industrial environments.
