Abstract

The quality of laser cutting largely depends on the selection of process parameters, which directly affect the geometric accuracy of machined parts. This paper investigates the influence of cutting speed, laser power, and assist gas pressure on the cut contour radius using Response Surface Methodology (RSM). Experimental research was conducted on a Glorystar GS4020 laser cutting machine using EN 10130 steel sheets. A Box–Behnken experimental design was applied to develop a mathematical model and analyze the influence of process parameters on the cut contour radius. The obtained results provide a better understanding of the influence of process parameters on the cut contour radius and establish a basis for developing reliable models for predicting the geometric accuracy of the laser cutting process.
