Control of Voltage Source Converter Based HVDC Transmission
Abstract
The most important characteristics of DC system used for power transmission are discussed in this paper. Advantages, as well as disadvantages comparing to AC systems are emphasized. The main HVDC system components are presented. Current control is detailed as a method to regulate power exchange between two independent AC grids. In order to verify expected behaviour, simulation results of a system in steady state operation are published and explained.
