Abstract

This paper describes the development of an electronic device whose main purpose is to collect and process sensor data in industrial plants. Processed data are sent to the main PLC over PROFIBUS network in real time. These data can also be simultaneously saved on a micro SD card for future analysis. The device has eight digital inputs, four digital outputs, eight analog inputs (analog signals can be current or voltage type), one extern connector for serial communication and an interface for connecting to PROFIBUS network. Device’s power supply and all digital inputs and outputs are suited for standard industrial voltage level of 24 V. Analog input signals ranges are also industrial standard (0 – 10 V for voltage and 4 – 20 mA for current signals).
