COMPARISON OF THE TECHNOLOGICAL PROCESS OF ELECTRONIC WASTE RECYCLING – CASE STUDIES OF PLANTS IN NIŠ AND VERONA (ITALY)

The topic of the paper is to present the current state of the electrical and electronic waste management system in the Republic of Serbia, from the collection system, legal regulations, and existing treatment technology to the final disposal. Basic definitions of electronic waste, quantity, composition and importance of recycling are given. Legislation in the European Union and Serbia is also covered. The current system for collecting this waste stream in Serbia and Italy is described. The main part of the paper is the presentation of the technology of treatment of electronic and electrical waste in the plants in Niš and Verona with the presentation of mass flows of materials of these processes. At the end of the paper, recommendations for improving the current waste management system in the Republic of Serbia are made on the basis of comparisons and analysis.
