Abstract

The Old Belgrade Fairground represents a
site that has undergone a turbulent change of various
utilitarian functions over the decades. Due to its tragic
past marked by the suffering of Jews, Serbs, and Romani
people during World War II when it served as a
concentration camp, the location has been designated as
a cultural heritage site and the planned location for a
new Memorial Center. With the goal of the architectural
and urban revitalization of the Old Fairground, this
paper explores the concept of labyrinth in the museum
typology. It conducts phenomenological research on the dramaturgy of the space and the coexistence of memories
at the location. The newly designed solution of the Old
Fairground Memorial Complex represents a hybrid type
of memorial complex.
